Down 6-1, Yankees rally to defeat Rangers
ARLINGTON, Texas — Cliff Lee had struck out 11 Yankees on Wednesday night, but he didn’t make it through the seventh inning — a rarity for the Rangers’ lefty ace. Having already Nike Dunk chipped at a five-run deficit, the Yankees came all the way back to score a 7-6 victory at Rangers Ballpark, where 48,676 fans seemed ready for an October encore. Marcus Thames’ eighth-inning homer off Frank Francisco cut the lead to 6-5, and his ninth-inning single off closer Neftali Perez put the Yanks ahead. Still, the Rangers threatened to take a second straight game against Mariano Rivera. Elvis Andrus tripled to start the ninth, but Rivera retired Michael Young on a shallow fly to right, got Josh Hamilton on a comebacker and a groundout by Vladimir Guerrero gave the Yanks a split in this entertaining two-game set. Lance Berkman opened the ninth with a walk, Brett Gardner singled, then Gardner and pinch-runner Curtis Granderson moved up Cheap Dunk Shoes on a short wild pitch. With the infield in, Derek Jeter’s chopper went over Perez’s head, and past the back-hand attempt of second baseman Cristian Guzman, tying the game. Thames delivered his go-ahead single off Alexi Ogando. Without that rally, the Yanks would’ve been left to dwell on all the dangers of a short playoff series here. Twenty-four hours after scoring an extra-inning victory off Rivera, David Murphy had another key hit during a three-run fifth off Javier Vazquez — an inning aided by a blown rundown play involving catcher Jorge Posada. Posada, who struck out three times, returned to the lineup after missing Tuesday’s game with an irritated right shoulder muscle. Tampa Bay’s loss enabled the Nike Men Dunk High Yankees to move 1½ games ahead in the AL East, with Boston five games out. Running away with the AL West, the Rangers’ club that played this two-game set bears little resemblance to the Texas team the Yanks swept in three April games. The two teams have a three-game series remaining here in September, and the Rangers expect Lee to front them in October "My thought is, when you approach him, you’ve got to look for a pitch to hit," manager Joe Girardi said. "And if you get it, you better hit it." Derek Jeter tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the sixth. Lance Berkman’s RBI double and Brett Gardner’s RBI single made it 6-4 in the seventh. Berkman’s hit was a gift, as Nelson Cruz and Josh Hamilton each hesitated as they neared one another at the warning track. Gardner was in a 2-for-32 slide before his liner to left ended Lee’s night. The Rangers’ 3-1 Nike Men Dunk Low lead became a 6-1 advantage in the fifth. Texas started the inning with three straight hits, concluding with Josh Hamilton’s RBI double. But with one out and runners at second and third, Vazquez induced a grounder to third by Nelson Cruz. Alex Rodriguez immediately trapped Michael Young in a rundown from third base. Dollar hits 15-year low against yen
It was the dollar's lowest level against the yen since 1995, when it traded around ¥84.81.
Both the dollar and yen are typically seen as low risk trades during times of economic uncertainty, so Nike Dunk downbeat economic data can often boost their value against other foreign currencies.
But the yen's strength is also viewed as a worrisome sign for Japan, as it makes exporting products to the U.S. more expensive for Japanese companies, said Phil Streible, a senior market strategist with futures broker Lind-Waldock.
Japan's Nikkei stock index tanked 2.7% on the yen's strength Wednesday because the country depends on its export business to offset its weak domestic economy.
Following its two-day monetary policy meeting, the Bank of Japan decided on Tuesday to keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 0.1% as a means of supporting the country's recovery and tackling deflation. But Bank of Japan Governor Masaaki Shirakawa told reporters that "we are well aware that the Yen's strength is a downside risk for corporate sentiment."
What's moving the market: Early Wednesday, China reported industrial output slowed for the fifth consecutive month in July, reaching the lowest level this year. Meanwhile, inflation in China -- measured by the Cheap Dunk Shoes consumer price index -- spiked to its highest level this year.
"It is no secret that China has become an engine of growth for many parts of the world but if the U.S. economy hits a rough patch, this engine could slow to a halt," Kathy Lien, director of currency research at Global Forex Trading said in a note to investors. "The combination of weaker U.S. and Chinese growth will hamper the global recovery in the fourth quarter."
That news, combined with the Federal Reserve's announcement on Tuesday that it will take measures to stimulate the U.S. economy, added steam to fears about a global economic slowdown.
"The pace of recovery in output and employment has slowed in recent months," the Fed said in its statement. The central bank still expects the economy to grow, bit it said the improvement will be "more modest in the near term than had been anticipated."
A downbeat outlook from the Bank of England on Wednesday also added fuel to the fire, sending U.S. stocks sinking in Nike Men Dunk High pre-market trading as investors instead opted for the safe-haven appeal of Treasurys, the yen and the dollar.
Against the euro, the dollar rose 1.7% to trade at $1.30; it inched up 1.1% on the British pound to $1.57.

Thousands Flee Flood Waters in Pakistan
Thousands of people are fleeing Pakistan's most populous provinces of Punjab and Sindh, as devastating floodwaters sweep towards the country's south. The floods have already ravaged the northwest, killing more than 1,500 people and washing away Nike Dunk roads, bridges, and homes. The United Nations humanitarian chief in Pakistan, Manuel Bessler, says more than 4 million people have been affected as Pakistan faces a major catastrophe. In Punjab and Sindh provinces, authorities worked to evacuate more than 500,000 people using boats and helicopters. Officials say many had ignored flood warnings, while some residents said they were not given any information. The Pakistani government has been criticized for not responding fast enough to the disaster. Officials say at least 20 people were killed Thursday when a bus plunged into a rain-swollen river in Pakistani-controlled Kashmir. Rising water levels have also destroyed crops and farmland, heightening fears of a food shortage. The World Food Program says nearly two million people are in need of emergency food assistance. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has dispatched his special envoy, Jean-Maurice Ripert, to Pakistan to join the U.N. team already engaged in flood relief efforts. U.N. officials say Cheap Dunk Shoes flood victims are prone to diarrhea, cholera and other waterborne illnesses. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari continued his visit to Britain on Thursday, despite coming under criticism for making the trip to Europe. The head of Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority, Nadeem Ahmad, on Thursday defended the government's relief efforts, saying the scope of the disaster was beyond expectations and poor Nike Men Dunk High weather initially hampered rescue efforts. The U.N., United States, Britain and Canada have pledged millions in aid to Pakistan flood relief. Nike Men Dunk Low Nike Men Dunk Mid Nike Women Dunk High Nike Women Dunk Low

Wyclef Jean to run for president of Haiti? Buzz growing
PORT-AU-PRINCE -- Speculation mounted Tuesday that Haitian singer Wyclef Jean will officially announce his Nike Dunk candidacy Thursday for president of the Western Hemisphere's most embattled country. CNN announced that Jean, who was born in Haiti but has lived much of his life in the United States, will appear Thursday night on Larry King Live to discuss his plans. The Associated Press quoted former legislator Pierre Eric Jean-Jacques as saying that the hip-hop superstar will run as part of Jean-Jacques' ``together we are strong'' coalition. The reports are the latest to point toward a run for the former Fugees star. The Miami Herald reported Friday that Jean officially announced his intentions in a series of meetings, and that his lawyers were working on his paperwork. ``It's a huge decision,'' Jean told The Herald last week about the prospect of his running. ``The decision is not final.'' From the dining tables of Pétionville to the camps of Port-au-Prince, the candidacy of Jean has been the topic of intense discussion in recent weeks. Many wonder whether he is eligible to run, is qualified or merely trying to promote his new album. Jean, 37, represents a departure from the status quo of the current government led by President René Préval. ``Wyclef has many people Cheap Dunk Shoes following him, and this could be a great opportunity for Haiti,'' said Kevin Luma, 19, a student. ``Maybe because he loves Haitians so much, he loves Haiti so much, things can change -- even if not 100 percent.'' For others, he draws comparisons to former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide -- but only so far. Aristide, a priest-turned-president ousted in 2004, enjoyed popular support but also fomented class hatred. ``I believe, like Aristide he will carry a groundswell because of his youth, because of his success, because of the hope he represents,'' said Georges Sassine, a Haitian businessman and president of the Haitian Industrialists Association. ``But unlike Aristide, this is a man who knows how things work, having lived in the United States. . . . Most important, I do not detect any envy or hatred from him and this is most encouraging.'' Jean's uncle, Haiti Ambassador to the U.S. Raymond Joseph, will also be a candidate. He reportedly sent his resignation to Préval early last week. Jean and Joseph will be part of a crowded field as candidates begin to signal their intentions. The one-week filing period ends on Saturday. Sources say that Jean plans to register his candidacy on Thursday before his appearance on Larry King. A nine-member electoral council will determine who is qualified to run under Haitian law. Jean would have to prove to the council's satisfaction that he has lived in Haiti for five consecutive years, that he holds Nike Men Dunk High only Haitian citizenship and that he owns land here. In the last presidential election, in 2006, Haitian authorities blocked the candidacy of Texas millionaire Dumarsais Siméus, noting that the constitution bars a U.S. citizen from holding dual citizenship, which rendered him ineligible. Whoever wins the Nov. 28 election will inherit one of the toughest jobs in the region. The country is barely recovering from the devastating Jan. 12 earthquake that claimed a government estimated 300,000 lives and left much of Port-au-Prince in ruin. More than a million people remain displaced, and much of the billions in aid promised by donors have still to arrive. Jean has been one of the most recognizable voices calling on the international community to help Haitians. His Yéle Haiti Foundation has raised millions, some from text donations shortly after the earthquake. The charity has come under scrutiny over how it spends the funds donated to it on behalf of Haiti. A recent attempt by Jean to Nike Men Dunk Low reach out to the population by gathering 200 people and handing each $7 was criticized by some camp dwellers. Jean, who has defended allegations against his grass-roots nongovernmental organization, said the money handed out to quake victims was a symbolic gesture to kick off his Yéle Corps rubble removal project that will begin employing 1,000 people at the end of this month. MESS Report / World Jihad targeting Jordan and Egypt, not just Israel
A Jordanian citizen was killed and three others were wounded by Grad rockets fired on Nike Dunk Monday from Egyptian territory at the Gulf of Eilat and Aqaba. One rocket struck open space north of Eilat, three struck Aqaba's hotel area, one rocket apparently landed in the sea and one landed in Sinai. On an Army Radio show on Monday morning, the presenter, a well-known comic, ridiculed the rocket launchers for having bad aim and mistakenly hitting Aqaba. But the perpetrators, apparently members of the group known as Global Jihad, intended to hit Aqaba no less than Eilat. They consider the Hashemite kingdom to be as legitimate a target as Israel, if not more so. Aqaba has become an attractive destination for European, American and even Israeli tourists in recent years, and is an important source of income for Cheap Dunk Shoes Jordan. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested in new hotels in the area, which is what makes it attractive to terrorists. This is not the first time Aqaba has appeared on the map of Islamic terror. As recently as April, two Grad rockets were fired at Eilat and Aqaba, causing no injuries. Jordan itself has had several serious terror attacks, the most deadly of which was in Amman, when three suicide bombers blew themselves up simultaneously in a hotel, killing almost 60 people. Concern over possible missile strikes or major terror attacks has spurred the Jordanians to closer security collaboration with Israel, despite this past year's rift between the Israeli government and the Jordanian monarchy. Throughout this period, the parties have continued coordinating on security matters; the information on more than one occasion thwarted an attack on Israeli or Jordanian soil. It seems that quite a few people in Israel are unaware that they owe their lives to Jordanian security forces. The authorities haven't determined from where the Grads were launched. Israeli sources think they were fired from Sinai, a charge the Egyptians have roundly denied. The Egyptians say this couldn't happen when Egyptian security forces are so effectively deployed in Sinai. But Sinai was and still is a hotbed for Nike Men Dunk High Global Jihad. Weapons are being smuggled from Sinai into Gaza, including Grad missiles. Some of these missiles presumably remain in Sinai, waiting to be launched. A Grad missile was fired at Ashkelon Friday, causing no injuries. Radical Islamist groups in Gaza could be behind both attacks. There are at least five groups identified with Al-Qaida or Global Jihad: Jaish al-Umma (army of the nation ), which first appeared in the Gaza Strip in June 2007, although it was officially established only two years ago; Jaish al-Islam (the army of Islam ) - a group associated with the Dughmush clan; and Jund Ansar Allah (army of the supporters of Allah ), which clashed with Hamas a year ago in Rafah, ending in Hamas killing 24 of its activists after the group declared an Islamic emirate in Gaza. This group was assisted by non-Palestinian Global Jihad activists; Jaish al-Momaminin (the army of the believers ); Al-Qaida Palestine, which took responsibility for the attack on the American school in Gaza; and Kataib al-Suyuf al-Haq al-Islamiyah (the brigades of the swords of Islamic justice ). Global Jihad activists have come to the Gaza Strip, trained there, armed themselves and Nike Men Dunk Low returned to Sinai to commit acts of terror against tourist targets in Sinai and elsewhere in Egypt. That may be the case this time as well. Nike Men Dunk Mid Nike Women Dunk High Nike Women Dunk Low

Brawn stands by Schumacher
Mercedes star Schumacher deliberately moved across to his right to block his former Ferrari team-mate, almost pushing him into the pit wall. Afterwards the Nike Dunk Brazilian branded it as "a go-kart manoeuvre" by the seven-time world champion, who was hit with a 10-place grid penalty for the Belgium Grand Prix on August 29. However Brawn feels the punishment by the race stewards was harsh, insisting that Formula One is a "tough business". "I don't think for a moment Michael was trying to put Rubens in the wall," he said. "He was trying to discourage him from coming down the inside as he thought that was where he would be vulnerable. "So he moved across to the inside to try and encourage Rubens to go around the outside. "At the end of the day he gave him enough space. You can argue it was marginal, but it was tough racing. "F1 is a tough business and these things happen in a fraction of a second." Asked whether the history between the two drivers - who worked together fir six years at Ferrari - had a bearing, Brawn added: "Certainly not from Michael's perspective. "Michael didn't Cheap Dunk Shoes comment on that. I know Rubens has commented on the history between them, but Michael hasn't at all. "It is obviously something that is paramount in Rubens' mind." Meanwhile, Brawn has explained what exactly happened when Nico Rosberg lost his right-rear tyre as he emerged back onto the pit lane. The runaway tyre then rolled and bounced through the pit crews from other teams, knocking unconscious one of Williams' mechanics. Rosberg was forced to retire for the first time this season. "It appears as the guy came off with the wheel gun it spat the wheel nut, but he didn't see it disappear," Brawn said. "The guns are so quick and powerful now you don't see the nut travelling at the speed of light. "So when he went back on and fired the gun he realised the nut was no longer there. "He then went to grab the other Nike Men Dunk High gun, but the rear-jack guy thought he had finished, so dropped the car and away Nico went. "I think we understand what happened and we will clearly look at how we can prevent it happening again." Nike Men Dunk Low Nike Men Dunk Mid Nike Women Dunk High Nike Women Dunk Low
